Hello everyone! I’m back! New Products!!

Hiatus time is officially up! Sorry I have not update as frequently or made new posts as I would have liked I had a lot of life stuff happen and well I took a break and pushed back the product line launch date to better suite family needs first.

Our company would like to officially announce that we have two new sugar scrubs ready for sale! They are packaged in 16 oz opaque white containers and smell and feel amazing.

Our first scrub is a Hawaiian Black Lava and Coffee Sugar Scrub that smells as if you were sitting on the beach. It is a heavenly smell and by far my favorite, the activated charcoal, coffee and sugar mixture will help give a deep, smooth exfoliation while the witch hazel (a natural astringent) which helps alleviate skin irritation and vitamin e oil which helps in keeping the skin hydrated and protected.

Our second scrub is another coffee scrub. It is an Apple Pie Coffee Sugar scrub that is also infused with the witch hazel and vitamin e oil for the same benefits!

Our company will be adding a Lavender Eucalyptus Bath Salt, Hawaiian Black Lava Bath Tea and a few others! So please bare with us as we transition from having a busy hectic schedule to a schedule that now includes time for making our bath and beauty products!

Coffee Body Scrubs

Did you know that the coffee we consume daily can also be used to aid in our skin care regime?

Let’s talk about Coffee Scrubs, yes you read that right, COFFEE!

Did you know that the coffee we consume daily can also be used to aid in our skin care regime? I didn’t know that either until I started up Goddess Soaps and Scrubs and started researching all kinds of different products, their ingredients and mostly importantly their benefits to our skin!

When our company first started researching things, different products, ingredients, skin care benefits and the whole nine yards that a business needs to do in order to provide the best quality of products for you, (our customers), we  were told about using freshly processed coffee grounds as part of one of our exfoliant bases.

Our company CEO thought this was crazy, until it was it was researched and found that freshly pressed coffee powder or freshly processed coffee grounds is just as beneficial as consuming it as a beverage!

Coffee is rich in antioxidants such as flavonoids and polyphenols and because caffeine is classified as a central nervous system (CNS) stimulate.

With all this being said, yes caffeine can be bad for you but it can also be beneficial as it can help stimulate circulation in the blood stream.

It is often asked “How often can I use my body scrubs?”

The answer: Body scrubs are exfoliants, so you do not want to use your product more than once or twice a week as it can damage the new skin you bring to the surface after exfoliating. Also, if you have dry skin it is advisable that you find a very gentle body scrub that will not be too abrasive and damage your already sensitive and dry skin.

Remember to take precautions in the winters to where the winter weather can cause your skin to become drier and exfoliating can cause irritation.

The benefits that we have found from all our research for coffee body scrubs are as follows: (but there are more benefits too, just not exfoliate!)

  • Coffee ground help exfoliate old skin cell while the caffeine helps minimize the appearance of cellulite and varicose veins.
  • Stimulates and improves circulation.
  • Opens your pores and helps to eliminate uncomfortable ingrown hairs
  • Anti-inflammatory.
  •  Helps brighten skin.
  • Helps prevent signs of aging, such as crows feet, wrinkles, smile lines, etc.
  • Reduce the chance of skin cancer: due to its high in antioxidants
  • Reduce the dark circle (“Raccoon Eyes” or Panda Eyes”)
  • Helps to soften your skin
  • Hydrates your skin

So, as you can see there are a lot of benefits for the freshly processed coffee scrub and how it can potentially benefit you and your skin!!

FYI: Be on the lookout for our new bath salts and body butter lines expected to be released the first week of June as we are still researching the best quality products and the benefits that the ingredients will provide for you and your loved ones!

A Special Appreciation Blog Post

mommy being silly
Mom being silly

With Mother’s Day quickly approaching (May 12, 2019) I want to take a little bit of time and make a special post for this special person that I am proud to call my mother. Carolyn Murphy has been my biggest fan, my shoulder to cry on, and even though we never see eye to eye she has wiped my tears, picked me up from my lowest points and help me battle and fight whatever was put against me.

I bounced around from wanting to be a mommy, to being a doctor to even being the most recognizable lawyer in the state so it never really dawned on me what I wanted to really be when I grew up until I watched my mother put her self back to college to further her healthcare career as a nurse and until I had my children.

You see growing up my mother and I had always had our ups and our downs, and more fights than I want to recall but in the end she should me that she will always be the one standing in my corner helping me fight against my demons or to put me in my place if I got out of hand. She was harsh and strict on me and for years I never understood why until just recently, she did it because the world is a “dog eat dog” type of place and without the upbringing that I was brought up in it taught me morals, respect and values that I can pass on to my children.

So what I’m trying to say I that even though my mom and I have our disagreements, and times that we don’t talk or whatever she is still my biggest inspiration, she is strong, silly, smart, sassy, brave and courageous. My mother has a heart of gold and will help anyone out in need (if she has the time, energy or patience), she is patient, she is all around the type of role model and mother figure that I can only dream to be for my girls!

Happy Mother’s Day Mommy, I love you ❤

EXFOLIATION

Exfoliation is the removal of dry/dead skin cells on the surface of the skin and is one of the most important aspects of your home skin care routine for face and body. Exfoliation not only helps may skin problems, it also increases blood circulation, which in turn helps you to achieve healthy and glowing skin.

THE BENEFITS OF EXFOLIATING

Exfoliation is the removal of dry/dead skin cells on the surface of the skin and is one of the most important aspects of your home skin care routine for face and body. Exfoliation not only helps may skin problems, it also increases blood circulation, which in turn helps you to achieve healthy and glowing skin.

While it is important to remove dead skin, it is also important NOT to strip away too many of your natural oils, so a good balance is essential, so it is suggested to exfoliate at least two times a week.

Because you are increasing blood circulation, breaking down toxins, and encouraging new cells to come through while exfoliating the best advice out there is to drink plenty of water which drains toxins and helps give those new cells a “drink of water from the inside”. Do not forget to apply a good moisturizer to hydrate your skin from the outside in, and make sure to not expose your freshly exfoliated skin to UV rays, the sun, or sunbeds for the first 24 hours.

SPECIFIC BENEFITS OF EXFOLIATION

BLEMISHED SKIN: It is important that people with blemished skin to use an exfoliator on the face or body at least twice a week. Most people believe that the best way to stop break-outs is to strip the skin, killing the bacteria, but, unfortunately doing so will dry out the skin and cause irritation. Remove dead skin cells while keeping the skin clean and hydrated with a good moisturizing lotion – lighter than a cream – just make sure that your hands are clean when applying the lotion, or moisturizer or choice, to prevent bacterial infections and spots.

POST-BREAKOUT, RED & DARK MARKS: After having a blemish on the skin there can sometimes be a dark mark that stay around for awhile. The best way to fade these dark marks is to exfoliate two times a week to remove the damaged cells and encourage the healthy and new skin cells to grow.

CLOGGED PORES: If you are one of the many who suffer from clogged pores (myself included into this group), exfoliating helps to draw out congestion, such as blackheads and whiteheads. Most common area for break-outs occur in the T-Zone (forehead, nose and chin)

PIGMENTATION: The dark areas come from age, pregnancy and changes within your hormonal balance and tend to become more apparent and darker as your skin ages. Exfoliation is very beneficial for breaking up pigmented cells and encouraging them to fade. Regular targeted facials with your local salon and skin care consultant is a good way to help promote and encourage healthy skin reproduction as well as helping the dark areas to fade, and your skin care consultant or dermatologist will be able to provide you some samples, suggestions and advice as how to keep them from darkening and what products are best for your skin type and skincare regime.

DRY SKIN: If your skin is dry or dehydrated, you may find that it is flaky or scaly in areas and that your skin could highly benefit from exfoliation of that specific problematic area, just remember with clean hands to apply a good moisturizer after exfoliation to help those new skin cells from drying out or becoming dehydrated.

INGROWING HAIRS: For an example, waxing your bikini line or even your legs, pulls the hairs from the root, causing them to grow back in weaker and sometimes unable to grow back in by piercing the skin causing a red spot, sometimes puss filled, to form around the area or hair follicle. This is known as an ingrowing hair, and yes these little buggers can sometimes be quite painful – exfoliating the area will remove the dead skin and allow the hair to break through the skin

GENERAL HEALTH & WELL BEING: When exfoliating the body you are increasing blood flow and the lymphatic system which is very beneficial for the body because it encourages the growth of new skin cells, breaks down fatty tissues, as well as breaking down and draining toxins from the skin. After exfoliation your skin is left feeling smooth looks beautifully soft and amazing and will be ready to apply your favorite moisturizer

SUN TANNING: Exfoliation is an important part of sun tanning because it removes the dead skin cells from the body and ideal as a pre-holiday skin boost. The sun will be affecting the new cells, which will help your tan last longer and looking more even. Be sure to keep your skin safely protected, moisturized and hydrated while  tanning and make sure to keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

FAKE TANNING: A good tanning regime, whether you are using cream tanners or spray tanners, should start with exfoliation because it aids in the removal of the dead skin cells and will provide a smooth, even surface area for the product of your choosing and helps the tan to last longer, look more amazing and even.

TYPES OF EXFOLIANTS

There are two main types of exfoliants, chemical and mechanical or physical.

CHEMICAL EXFOLIANTS – these are either an acid- or enzyme-based formula such as alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) such as glycolic acid or beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) such as salicylic acid.

MECHANICAL OR PHYSICAL EXFOLIANTS – these types of exfoliants use beads or an abrasive-style substance to literally help buff away dead skin cells and impurities. Some people prefer this style of scrubs because you can “feel” them working on your skin.

A great website that I had ran across while researching different exfoliants, types and benefits is a webpage called Herbal Dynamic Beauty, they have an article that goes further in-depth about chemical and mechanical or physical exfoliants. The blog that I read and will be sharing the link to is called “Chemical vs Mechanical: Types & Benefits of Exfoliation for the Skin”, the post goes into detail about the difference between AHA and BHA, the benefactors of the exfoliants, what the difference between mechanical/physical exfoliants and chemical exfoliants are, as well as what should NOT be used on the skin. They also have a skincare line that is suitable for both face and body.

Just the Beginning

I know this is just the beginning but I have my heart set on what needs to be done, have my list and checked it time and time again, looked up health benefits of different oils and vegan friendly foods that could be functional in multiple ways. I’ve named this Goddess Soaps and Scrubs, why because what woman wouldn’t love to “Feel Like a Goddess” while relaxing in a hot bath with smelling good bath salts, or shower with shower melts that not only smell amazing but can be made to help with sinus and allergies?

This is just the beginning of a new start for a new year. Everyone states there’s “a new me, a new year” well I put my foot through that door I got a new hair cut, started healthy a eating regime, cut both my family and I’s sugar intake almost to none (except the caffeine and the natural sugars) and started making homemade vegan friendly bath products to sell. I know I would love to pamper myself when I have the chance and this was one reason I decided to do this but I also have a family member that suffers from the devastating effects from chemotherapy, radiation and stage 3 breast cancer that has taken control of her life. The proceeds I make from sales will not only go to my family for things we need to make sure that each of us have the best quality products for our skin but to the breast cancer foundation to find a cure for breast cancer!! I’m ending this with a thank you to everyone that has read this, will read this and had help in any way with starting Goddess Soaps and Scrubs, follow me on Facebook (@goddesssoapsandscrubs), WordPress (@goddesssoapsandscrubs) and instagram (@goddesssoapandscrubs) and please check out Carolyn Murphy’s WordPress (@carolynscrafts) and enjoy watching her succeed in her battle of cancer and also check out her jewelry.
